【教学目标】

Words of in this module are very difficult, which requires the teacher uses effective and efficient ways to help Ss know the meanings quickly and use them fluently in class.

Step 1 Leading-in Show a short video about the sheep Dolly. Ask Ss to say something about cloning in Chinese.Then lead in the topic : Cloning and DNA by asking students the following questions:

What do you know about the history of cloning ?

Can you try to say something about the cloning process?

(Ss answer questions individually , the teacher can give them some help if necessary) Step 2 Work in pairs and try to find the definitions Ask students to find answers of these questionsin the passage. What is DNA/a clone/a stem cell/the genetic make-up of a plant/bacteria/ an enzyme? And check answers with each other.Provide help if it is necessary. Step 3 Situation Learning Situation 1

Although cloning is a new technology, but the principle is not very complicated. Students try to find the related information in the context.They may use the following

words and expressions. identical, beneficial, embryo,enzyme , tissue , organism, stem cell , upbringing, genetic, genetics, make-up, transparent, fundamental,

component procedure ,unzip , insert

Situation 2 Can you describe the process of cloning? Ask some of the students to describe the process of cloning based on the passage.They can use the following: cure, imaginary, incredible, acid, bacteria, (be) identical to, by mistake , treat ... as, a sequence of . Step3

Group work:Word Practice After learning these words and useful expressions in situations, the teacher will organise Ss to work in groups to summarize the passage. The can begin with this sentences:We should be cautious about cloning human beings.

Step 4 Discussion

Ask students talk about it in groups. What rules should be obeyed in the cloning process? After discussion, the teacher will give them a summary. Step 4 Homework 1.

Write a short passage about cloning. 2.

Review the key words and useful expressions after class.

【课堂评价和反思】

通过本节课的教学，学生进一步掌握了本课题采用的词汇教学模式，对克隆技术有了进一步的认识，掌握了要求的词汇和短语，

对于克隆技术的运用也有了深层次的道德伦理方面的思考，基本上达到了本节课的预设目标。不足之处在于描述克隆技术过程时，学生能说出一些词汇，但是不能很好地用句子连贯表达，教师在此过程中应多给学生一点帮助和提示，增加学生表达的自信。
