Ads for food, toys etc., are very appealing and attractive to children. Children will want to try out the products they see, but their parents might not have the money to buy them. They can result in family problems. Some toys encourage violence and have little educational value. Children will have trouble telling right from wrong and separating fact from fantasy in ads. Ads not only sell products to young consumers, they may also sell unhealthy lifestyles and habits to young children. Children are very vulnerable and do not know how to protect themselves from these unhealthy influence. Teenagers often want to copy the famous actors they see in commercials. They want to have the products used by the actors in the ads and emulate their lifestyles. However, many teenagers lack the money or ability to do this, making them feel inferior or out of step with current fashions.
Teenagers are becoming more and more materialistic, wanting to have modern and trendy lifestyles. They may only want to buy a product that is made by a famous company, thinking this proves that they are fashionable and have good taste.
