Teaching material analysis：

The topic of Unit 4 is Pets. It connects with Book 1 Animals and Book 2 My Friends. Such a topic is related to daily life, so it is helpful to raise learning interests of students and it will be also helpful to arouse their consciousness of loving and caring pets.

Analysis of the students：

Grade three students have the basic of learning English. They can learn the new words fast, but it is difficult for them to make sentences. They can’t write words normatively.

Teaching aims:

1Knowledge objects: Try to learn and say five pets：rabbit, duck, chicken, snake, turtle. Try to learn the words about the characteristics of pets: small, long. 2 Ability objects: (1) Try to describe the characteristics of your pets with the sentences “I have a … It’s…”

(2)Try to write the words in four lines and three lattices normatively. (3)Try to have a chant with the tape bravely. 3 Moral objects:

(1) To arouse the students’ consciousness of loving and caring pets.. (2) To arouse students’ interest and enjoy the pleasure of cooperation in the activity

Teaching process: Step 1 Lead in （1）Watch the video. What animals can you see?

（2）T: Which animals can keep at home? S: cat, dog, etc.

T: These animals called pets.

T: Listen to the chant and tell me what pets do they have?

2 Use the phonics to teach the words.

3 Teamwork：each group try to learn a word from three parts: the pronunciation of the word, how to write the word and the meaning of the word.

4 Game: guess the pets.

Use the interactive multimedia to appear a part of a pet, and then try to guess the pets.

e.g. T: What pet is it? S: rabbit. T: What color is it? S: It’s white.

5 Group work: check the words with your partners.
