一、教材分析：本板块通过Miss Li询问Su Hai, Mike的生日，他们分别描述生日当天的情形。学生在这个部分应该学习句型：When’s your birthday? 及回答It’s on…

和What do you do on your birthday? 及回答I usually…并通过此板块学习新词组：have a big dinner, eat some noodles, play with Kitty, have a party, buy a birthday cake, eat the birthday cake, play some games, have a great time, have a lot of fun. 二、教学目标：

1. 能听懂、会读、会说单词：birthday, eleventh, eighth, April, together, game, March, July, August, December等。

2. 能听懂、会读、会说短语：a birthday cake, eat noodles, have a party, play games等。. 3. 能听懂、会读、会说日常用语：When’s your birthday? My birthday is on…What do you do on your birthday? I ... 4. 能正确的理解并朗读课文，在教师的引导和板书的帮助下尝试复述课文内容。

4. 能熟练运用本课所学的词汇和句型谈论自己或他人的生日。

六、教学过程：

Step 1 Warm up

(1)Enjoy a song. (2) Play a game: Brain Storm.(Let the students answer some questions.) （Purpose: This step is to form a better situation for English learning by speaking and singing. The students will feel relaxed and happy. Meanwhile, it also can review some sentences about activities and the names of the months that they’ve learnt before for the next step.）

Step2 Pre-reading 1.Drill the sentences: When’s your birthday? My birthday is on... What do you do on your birthday? I ... (Purpose : In this course, I will teach the new sentences in the communicative approach. It also helps elicit the title. ) 2. Elicit the title. 3.Show a mind map about birthdays. The teacher asks the students to ask the questions with the words. For example: Whose birthdays are they? When are the birthdays? What do they do on the birthdays? What do they eat on the birthdays? How do they feel on the birthdays? (Purpose: To cultivate the students’ abilities of asking questions and their consciousness of having questions. Then they know they should find the answers. With the questions, they should learn the story carefully. This reflects the Task-based teaching method. ) Step3 While-reading 1.

Watch the carton and answer the question: Whose birthdays? (Purpose: To let the students contact with the text as a whole, and get a main idea for it. At the same time, the students will finish an easy task that may let the students focus on watching.) 2.Listen and judge the sentences: Su Hai’s birthday is on the

(Purpose: To get to know about Mike’s birthday in details. While the students complete the form, the teacher asks two students to complete the form on the blackboard. Then the teacher talks to the students about Su Hai’s birthday and Mike’s birthday. In this way the students check their

answers at the same time.) 5.Listen and imitate. Firstly the teacher should guide the students how to read the story well. (Purpose: To guide the Ss to read the text correctively and emotionally. )Meanwhile the teacher let the students to do these two things:①. Read and understand: “After that, we play with Kitty the cat.”In this sentence, what does “that” refer to?(Purpose: Let the students understand the sentence well.) ②. Think and say: What should Mike do before they eat the birthday cake? &What should Helen, Tim and Mike’s friends do before they eat the birthday cake? (Purpose: Let the students know how to have a birthday party clearly.) 6.Read the story in roles: The teacher acts as Miss Li. Girls act as Su Hai. Boys act as Mike. 7.Try to retell the story according to the form on the blackboard. (Purpose: To reflect the students’ understanding of the text, and cultivate the abilities of applying the knowledge they’ve learnt today. Theirs oral English abilities will be trained, too.) Step3 Post-reading 1.Discuss the question: What else do you do on your birthday? 2.Write the composition: My birthday. Then the teacher asks some students to read their compositions in class. (Purpose: In this part, the students may think and write by themselves. It encourages the students to form the output of the writing abilities. To the students in Grade5, writing is necessary.) Step4 Homework

1.Read the dialogue after the tape and recite it.

2. Finish the exercises of Page 80. 3.

Write a composition about your family's birthday or a friend’s birthday. Step5 Ending The teacher shares a funny video of a birthday party with the students and lets the students have a good time.
