Module 5 Shopping Unit 3 Language in use Teaching Materials The theme of this module is about shopping, which arouses Ss’ interests in practising everyday English and eventually helps Ss to develop their listening and speaking skills

Analysis of Students Ss are around 13 in the first grade of junior school. They have learnt many words of items and some sentences of shopping. Ss enjoy taking part of all kinds of classroom activities. Teacher encourages Ss to act out their dialogues and finish some shopping tasks to meet the desire and requirement of their learning.

Teaching Aims A. Knowledge aims 1.

Function: Discussing how to go shopping 2.

Grammar: Communicative sentences about shopping 3.

Vocabulary: Mother’s Day, size, take, try on, wait a minute, sale, price and so on. 4.

Sentence: What size/ color would you like? How much are they? How many/much do you want?

B. Ability aims 1.

To improve Ss’ skills on listening and speaking.

2. Enable Ss to use English flexibly by doing role plays about shopping C. Emotion, attitude and value aims 1.

To teach Ss to care for their parents and friends with gratitude and choose presents for them 2.

Show Ss some pictures with different clothes. 2.

Ask Ss play the Memory Game and teach Ss more words of different clothes to develop Ss’ interests in clothes shopping and make preparation for the following activities.

Step 2. Language in practice 1.

Ask Ss make a short dialogue with pictures and words. 2.

Draw web idea with “what” to revise the useful expressions to arouse Ss’ interests in practising everyday English. 3.

Catching game: ask and answer in pairs. 4.

Group work: give Ss worksheets and make a dialogue in groups in different shops 5.

Finish some exercises in books and give Ss worksheets to learn measure words.
