Unit 2 She looks cute Lesson 7 Hello, everyone. I’m Zeng Rongrong from Hebei Primary School. I am very glad to be here to present my lesson. Today I am going to talk about Lesson 7 of Unit 2, Jing Tong English Book 5 for Primary School. I prepare to say the lesson from 8 parts: Teaching Material Analysis, Students Analysis, Standard Requirement, Teaching Aims , Key Points and Difficult Points, Teaching Methods and Learning Methods, Teaching Process and Blackboard Design. 一

Teaching Material Analysis Now , let me talk about Teaching Material first. It is the first lesson of Unit 2. In this lesson, we will learn how to ask the name of another person in the daily life, how to describe people’s appearance and personality simply. 二

Students Analysis Next, please look at Students Analysis. The students in Grade 5 have had some basic English knowledge and they can express themselves in simple English. They are eager to learn more and have been interested in English. They have learned some words

about appearance, like: eye, hair, nose and so on. 三

Standard Requirement Then, let me talk about Standard Requirement. The students

in Grade 5 can use simple English to greet each other and exchange simple information about their individuals,

families and friends. In addition to these, they can even perform short stories with the help of their teachers. 四

Teaching Aims

First,

aims on knowledge: students learn to read and recognize two words: pretty and clever.

To master three sentences: What’s her name?

She’s pretty and clever. Second,

aims on abilities: to train the students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading, singing , using and group working. Third,

aims on emotion:

Teaching Methods and Learning Methods Teaching Methods: In this lesson, I will mainly use the Direct Teaching Method, Task-based Teaching Approach, Situational

Teaching Method and so on. Learning Methods: Students can use co-operation, listening and speaking, playing and singing to learn this lesson. 七

Teaching Process And then, we come to the most important part-Teaching Process. I’ll finish this lesson in five steps. Step 1 Warm up and Revision

After greetings, I will begin this lesson with a song. The song’s name: Where do you come from? Second, we’ll review the knowledge in the last Unit. For example, My name is…I come from…I live in…Next, I will let students introduce Bob, Kate, Peter and Bill with these sentences. For example, let a student will be Bob and says: My name is Bob. I come from Britain. I live in China. Then, I will let students introduce the other figures in the same ways.

In my opinion, such kind of opening can active atmosphere of learning English and review the old knowledge. Step 2 Presentation This step, I’ll show Zhou Pei’s picture and say: What’s her name? S1: Her name is Zhou Pei. Next, I will show two sentences and let students read after me, read one by one, read two by two, and so on. Then, I will let the students change Zhou Pei into a real

figure in the class to practice the sentence pattern. For example, a student points to a girl in the class and asks: What’s her name? The other students answer: Her name is… (The girl’s name) After learning sentences, I will show the picture and ask some questions: 1 Where are they? 2 Who’s this girl? 3 What’s this woman? The students answer these questions. After that, students will watch the video and answer my questions: T: What does Zhou Pei look like? Is her hair long or short? During the process of students answering questions, the teacher directs students to describe Zhou Pei’s appearance features: She has big eyes and long hair. And after that, students watch again and answer my question: T: What does Kate think of Zhou Pei? S1:She’s pretty and clever .Next, show word’s cards: pretty and clever. I am going to show some toys to help students understand clever and pretty. Then, I will show words’ cards and let students, read after me, read one by one, read clap hands and so on. At the same time, I will ask students to pay attention to word’s pronunciation and word’s stress. At last, I will let some students describe their classmates. For example, …is pretty. She has big eyes and a small mouth. Afterward, A game will be designed. The game’s name: Guess, Guess, Guess. I will ask four students to come to the front and let a student describe one of them. Then, the

other students guess who this person is.

I think this part can make a great connection between the target language and the daily life. Only in this way, can

arouse the interests of learning English. Step 3 Practice Practice is important for students to learn English. So let me talk about practice. I will ask students to read the dialogue follow the teacher, follow the video. And then read in groups and act. At

last , I can guide the students to use learned sentences to introduce their mothers or friends. They can also do the introduction by showing the photos of their mothers or friends in groups. In my opinion, the practice can develop the students’ abilities of communication and co-operation. Step 4 Summary After practice, I’ll ask students to talk about what we’ve learned today. I think it will check the knowledge students have learned in this lesson. Step 5 Homework At last, I will let students introduce themselves, their friends, their parents to their partners. In my opinion, homework is good way to consolidate new knowledge. 八
