By the end of this lesson, students are able to: 1.

Knowledge objective: learn some useful expressions on how to discuss the

problem and give advice.

2. Ability objective: a) develop their skills of listening for gist and details.

b) apply the expressions they learned to practical use on

giving advice. 2.

Emotion objective: enhance their consciousness of helping others to solve

difficulties as well as asking for help when needed.

学生学情分析

Students in 10th

grade only have learned some simple sentences patterns to express their opinions and give advice in former learning experiences and they lack the chance to put them into use. They know how to write with these expressions and can do it well but they can hardly apply them to basic communication. Therefore, teachers should create scenarios to encourage students to express their ideas.

Create different scenarios and design several tasks to encourage students to share their opinions, for example, through discussion, presentation, quick response, etc. 1

Provide a situation close to students’ life and through the process of solving the problem with group members, they can collaborate with each other and develop a sense of satisfaction when finishing helping others.
