I. Teachings aims: 1. To recite the ballad of the ordinal numerals and 12 months, then master the date expression and grasp the effective methods for learning and memorizing words ingeniously; 2. To use the structure “When is…?”“It’s on …”to practice the key points of this lesson;

Group cooperate method: I’ll introduce “learn first to teach behind, be a training” teaching mode to teach this lesson. III: Key points and difficult points: 1. How to use the ordinal numerals and 12 months to express the special dates and the corresponding festivals. ( Ss have to master) 2. How to get ingenious methods for memorizing the ordinal numerals and 12 months effectively. ( Teacher must explain clearly)
IV: Teaching procedures: Step 1
Warm-up: (3 mins)
1. Greetings and lead-in. T: Good morning, boys and girls! S: Good morning, Miss Li!
T: How are you feeling now? Are you happy?

S: Yes, we feel very happy!
T: Ok, if you feel happy, Let ’s sing a song “If you feel happy”, and please beat time to this music.
2. Show Ss the teaching aims.
Step2 Presentation (10mins) 1. Use the ballad, picture and word cards to review the essential points.
2. Present the date expressions both in form and sound.
E.g. December + 25th = December (the) 25th

Ss ask questions, T lets a good student answer it. If no one can solve the problems, T can give the right answers. Step3 Practice ( 15mins) 1. Translate dates between English and Chinese, then refer to the answers in p21 and discuss the difficult points in groups.
T: OK, my class, have you finished? Let stop here. Now please discuss your difficult points in groups, and then try to fill in the blanks in p22.
S: Ok.
2. Guide students master the date expression. Finish the exercises in p22. Students are thinking them over. Let Ss recite the special dates and the related festivals. Check them each other.

Step 4 Production ( 7 mins) 1. To practice the useful structure“When is …?”“It’s on…”. Teacher divides the students into 4 groups and gives each one a piece of paper, filling in the blanks with the corresponding words. Finally, ask some students to show the answers and encourage them. If not, correct the answers.
T: Class, now please finish the practice your paper, then I will ask somebody to show us the correct answers.
S: OK.
T: First, please finish the practice with your partners. Are you ready? Let’s begin.
2. Ask Ss to summarize the key points of the lesson. Step 5 Assignments ( 3mins) 1. Consolidate the dates expressions by dictations; 2. Use the structure “When is…?”“It’s on …”to practice the key points of this lesson; (3-5 dialogues) 3. Preview for the text in part B and mark up the difficulties.
