Step1: Lead-in 1.

Step2: Short Passage Reading (Activity2, Introduction) 1.

Ss simply describe the picture & T simply introduces the book/film 2.

T asks Ss to read the passage and try to catch the basic information (author, type, plot, appearance) 3.

Ss give their answers one by one & T supplements when necessary (emphasize some important words) 4.

Ss Complete the sentences in Activity3 to consolidate the words

Step3: Part1 Reading (The story of Frankenstein) 1.

T asks Ss to read Part1 to complete 2 tasks

Q: Is Frankenstein the name of the monster? Outline the story with some key verbs 2.

Check the answers together (emphasize some important words)

T asks 1 or 2 Ss to retell the story according to the key verbs

Step4: Part2 Reading (Extract from Frankenstein) 1.

T asks Ss to read Part2 to catch the changes of the scientist’s feelings about his creation (n./adj.) 2.

Check the answers one by one & T raises some relevant Qs about the key words 3.

T supplements another key word Regretful (5 I wish…) 4.

T leads Ss to read P2 together emotionally about how ugly the monster is (emphasize some important words)

Step5: After-reading: Discussion 1.

T shows the topics: Opinions: How do you look upon the monster’s behavior? Lessons: What lessons can we learn from the story of Frankenstein? 2.

Ss discuss in groups freely and choose one spokesperson to present their views & T gives some feedback timely 3.

T properly provide Ss with some clues/key words and shares: Opinions: self-consciousness, humanity…
