Analysis of the Teaching Material The topic of unit 5 is Problems and advice. It consists of two passages, reading and more reading. The specialty of this unit is that there is certain connection between reading and more reading. Reading is three letters asking the school counsellor for help, which are published on the school newspaper, while more reading is a letter written by the school counsellor to reply to them. Therefore, we are going to combine the two passages in this class. After learning the passage, students can learn how to deal with some problems in their life. Analysis of the students Students have finished the reading part of this unit, so they are familiar with the content of the three letters. They have learned the new words of more reading, and have previewed the text of more reading.

Teaching Objectives: Ⅰ Knowledge Objectives: By skimming the text, students can understand the purpose of the letter and the counsellor’s advice for the three letters.
