1. Daily Talk 2. Riddles. (To elicit the topic ‘hibernation’) II: While-reading 1. Listen to the 1st

paragraph and fill the table.(To help students get the basic information about the hibernation ) (1) What does hibernation mean? (2) When does it happen? (3) How long does it last? (4) Why do creatures hibernate? 2. Read the 2nd paragraph and fill in the blanks (To help students get the details of the hibernation of bats) 3. Further thinking: Why do bats hang upside down? 4. Read the 3th paragraph and fill in the blanks. (To help students get the details of the hibernation of frogs) 5. Further thinking:

(1) What is an amphibian? (2) Why do frogs stay into the mud at the bottom of a pond when hibernating? 6. Read the 4th paragraph and fill in the blanks. (To help students get the details of the hibernation of bears) 7. Further thinking:

(1) What is the difference between bears’ hibernation and other animals’? (2) Is it possible for people to hibernate? (3) Is it useful or not? Why? III: Post-reading 1. Read the passage again, and do the post-task. (To help students summarize the mystery of hibernation.)
