Module 5 Unit 1 They’re cows Teaching aims: (1)
Skills &knowledge: ①Master the 6 new words: “cow, chicken, duck, pig, dog, cat” and understand and say the words “they, farm, egg”. ②
Can understand and use the new sentences “What are they? They’re cows/ chickens/ducks.” to describe the farm. (2)
Process & Methods: Situational Teaching Method. Teaching points: Master the 6 new words: “cow, chicken, duck, pig, dog, cat”
and the new sentences “What are they? They’re cows/ chickens/ducks.”. Teaching difficulties: Can read the plural forms correctly and use the sentences in the real scene. Teaching procedures: Step 1: Warming up (1)
Sing a song “The Sounds of the Farm Animals”. Step 2: Revision (1)Show some pictures and review the words of the animals. Step 3: Leading in (1)Show some pictures of the farm and let’s go to it. Then teach the
sentence “This is the farm.”. Step 4: Presentation (1)
Show a pig’s nose, ask students guess and teach the word “pig”. ( Game: read and move) Then show some pigs and teach the plural form “pigs”. (2)
Show a picture of a cat and teach the word “cat”. ( Game: High and low voice) Then show two more cats and teach the plural form “cats”. (3)
Show a picture of a dog and teach the word “dog”. ( Game: Shoot the word card) Then show three more dogs and teach the plural form “dogs”. (4)
Show a picture of a flying bird and teach the word “bird”. ( Game: little train) Then show two more birds and teach the plural form “birds”. (5)
Show a picture of a cow and teach the word “cow”. (Choose students to read.) Then show more cows and teach the plural form “cows”. (6)
Show a picture of a duck and teach the word “duck”. ( Game: Hide and seek) Then show more ducks and teach the plural form “ducks”. (7) Show a chicken and some chickens and teach the sentences “What are they? / They’re chickens.”. (8) The chicken lays an egg, then show some eggs, practice the new sentences. (9) Ask students listen to some sound of the animals and guess “What are they?”.
(10) Game: What’s missing? Step 5: Practice Challenge: Save the Princess (1) Task 1: Gather 9 flowers. (Read the words of animals and get the flowers.) (2) Task 2: Gather 3 flowers. (Choose the different word.) (3) Task 3: Gather 6 roses. (Use the new sentences to describe the things around you.) Step 6: Summary (1) Students read the new words of animals and the new sentences together. (2) Sing a song: Old MacDonald Step 7: Question time Step 8: Homework (1) Draw a farm and introduce the animals on your farm to your friends.
