The title of passage Through this class, students will be able to: 1) Enlarge the words about war, such as Knowledge objects troop, commander, company, invade, operation, occupy, shell, artillery…

2) get the mains idea of the passages and know the structure

Teaching aims

Teaching procedure Step 1

Leading-in (2’) Display a short video about the D-Day landings and ask students to focus on the date, place, people and what happened to them. (Purpose

of my design: the video attracts the students directly, and it can lead in the passage naturally).

pre-reading (3’) Brainstorm some words that related to people, arms and actions in the war, meanwhile, add some difficult words. (Purpose of my design:

List the related vocabulary to set the words block to prepare for the reading)

Step 3

while-reading (28’)

Because there are 3 different passages, finish reading one by one and conclude the main ideas and frame the structure. Reading activity1: Passage 1

Ask students to predict the elements of a historic event and read this passage and to complete the mind-map of the D-day landings according to the elements.
