Step1. Greeting

Step2. Lead- in Teacher shows pictures of a restaurant and introduces the teachers’

experience in a

restaurant. Then teacher asks the Ss if they have been badly treated in any restaurants or hotels and introduces Henry’s experience in the restaurant. Step3.First reading Ss read the text and take down some notes about time，place，character and event.

Step4. Second reading True or false 1. The owner looked down upon Henry when he noticed Henry’s appearance.

2. Henry asked for more of the same food because he was an American who liked to eat a lot.

3. When Henry saw the million pound bank- note, he was happy and proud of it. 4. The waiter’s behaviour changed the most.

Step 5. Third-reading Ss complete the table according the text.

Step 7. Post reading Task 1: Ss try to retell the story. Task 2: Ss try to play the roles of “Henry, waiter, owner and hostess”. Step 8. Discussion In groups of four, discuss the question: What do you think of money? Is money everything?
