Women of achievement

Reading: A STUDENT OF AFRICAN WILDLIFE 一、Teaching aims:

⒈Get the students to learn about Jane Goodall using reading skills and new words and expressions.

⒉learn Jane’s good qualities and set up the consciousness of protecting animals.

⒊Make the students realize that women can do as well as men in all fields

⒋Enable the students to communicate with each other after while-reading 二、

Difficult points: post-reading after while-reading

Key points: develop the students’ reading and language organization ability 三、

Teaching process: Step1: Lead in

Show some pictures about women of achievement such as ,Wu Zetian played by Fan Bingbing and China’s new First Lady—Peng Liyuan that they are familiar with to lead in another great woman—Jane Goodall .Then get into a passage about her—A STUDENT OF AFRICAN WILDLIFE. From the title and some pictures about Jane and chimps, the students can easily guess and answer the following three questions:

What animals are studied?

⑶

Where does Jane do her research, in the lab or in the forest?

As a teacher, praise the students for their good answers immediately and then ask them some more questions to lead them into Fast Reading, such as

【设计说明】这部分的练习目的在于巩固所学知识，检验学生是否能够利用所获取的信息知识进行有目的有愿望的交流，从而达到有效输出。考虑到该环节处于一节课的后半部分，学生的热情、新鲜感可能有所减退，故设计成游戏的形式。每个小组选择一个图片，每个图片对应一个任务。七个小组里有三个小组会抽到Role-play.

【设计说明】每经过一个环节，学生都要认真思考，用心准备，真心不容易！在所有的任务完成之后，放松一下，欣赏一个和文章相关的小视频不失为一个不错的选择！关键是在放松的同时还能学到好多知识呢！

四、Teaching reflection:

First, I prepared the class carefully. And almost everything got along well. But I found the questions in Post reading a little difficult to the students. Frankly speaking, it is within my predictions. The problem is that the students’

English basis is weak and their ability of organizing language needs to be improved.
