一、教材分析

1.

学情分析：The class is given to Senior One students who have mastered a certain amount of English words and phrases as well as acquired some useful reading strategies .However,they still have some difficulty in analyzing and solving problems and understanding the tone of the passage. 2.

教学目标 （1）知识目标 Enable the students to learn more about some cities. (2）能力目标 Enable the students to review and strengthen some reading skills and master the skills of guessing new words,inferring . (3)

情感目标Enable the students to love their homeland and motherland. 3.

教学重点Enable the students to understand the article and master the new reading skills. 4.

教学难点Improve the ability of integrating information and practise speaking and writing. 5.

Step 1. Warming up(3minutes)(pair work)教师利用含有apartment,high-rise building,shopping malls....等图片引入单词，让学生在懂得单词意思的基础上再进行分类练习。然后让学生以小组为单位尽量列出与房屋、建筑有关的词汇，再造句。

Step 2. Prediction (3minutes) (Group work) 1.

Get the students to read the title and guess what the article will mainly tell about?Teacher will write the key words of their answers on the blackboard. 2.

Students will get the answer after the first reading.(设计说明：预测主题让学生在思考之后带着问题阅读课文）

Step III.Reading I.Skimming(8minutes) 1.

Ask the students to skim through the passage and try to finish exercise I and II. 2.

Ask the students to find out the key words about the dialogue. II.Scanning(10minutes)(Group work) Read the passage for the second time and answer the following questions. 1.

What do you know about Xiamen? 2.

Would you like to live in Xiamen?Why or why not? Step IV.Conclusion and questions from students(5minutes) 1.Ask two students to draw a conclusion of what he has learned in the passage.

2.Ask the students to make up a dialogue about their hometown and act out. Step V. Homework Write a passage to describe your hometown. 三、教学反思：

1.存在问题

本节课设计内容容量比较大，任务完成比较紧迫，在学生总结和展示部分时间比较仓促，部分准备的同学没有机会展示。

2.改进措施 （1）注意课堂容量，适当舍弃或减少一部分可有可无的内容，做到有的放矢。 （2）坚持以学生为中心，教师引导为辅的课堂教学，让学生多说多思考，提高学生独立学习，独立思考的能力。
