Step 2 Present tenses I am ___________________________ now. I usually _________________________ in class. Pay attention to the tenses in the two sentences. We use the present simple tense in the first sentence and the present continuous tense in the second sentence. Why? And what other uses do they have? The present simple tense: 1.

The vase is in the museum now.

The tense indicates the present state of the vase. 2.

Dan reads books every morning. And he goes to the countryside on Sundays.

The tense indicates Dan’s habit or what he does regularly.

Step 3 Summary Work in groups of four and summarize the uses of the present simple tense and the present continuous tense. At the same time, describe the four pictures by using the present tenses. 【设计意图】

Lesson 6 Writing 教材分析

This part is based on the previous five lessons. And students’ writing a brochure about their school is the main task. In this part, an email and a letter are just to help students write about their school in a better way. 教学目标

By the end of this lesson, students will be able to: (1) get the main idea of the email and the letter; (2) find the differences between school life in China and that in US; (3) talk about their school and express their thoughts smoothly.

Step 3 Differences Work in groups of four and discuss the similarities and differences between the American and Chinese school system. 【设计意图】

通过比较，培养学生的条理性，同时，更全面地了解文化的差异性。

Step 4 Discussion Work in groups of four and have a discussion about your thoughts about your school. You can mention the following aspects: the school’s environment, teachers, students, classrooms and classes.

建立在之前的步骤的基础之上，结合自己学校的实际，学生转化为自己的语言，并且表达自己的观点。其中，学生增强口语表达和逻辑思维能力。

Step 5 Homework Write a brochure about your school. Choose some aspects you take an interest in and your thoughts about your school.

You can add slogans and pictures to your brochure.

学生将输入转为输出，在这一环节中，学生语言组织能力和制作小册子能力得到提高。同时，这一任务也帮助学生更为了解和热爱自己的学校。
