III. Teaching procedures: Part One

Fast Reading

Ask students what kind of person Yuan Longping is in their mind.

Skim the passage quickly and complete Task1 and Task2. Task 1: find out the main idea of the text. Task2: match the main ideas with the right paragraphs. Part Three

Careful Reading Read the text carefully and complete Task3. Task 3:Read the four paragraphs and then answer the corresponding questions in each paragraph. Para 1: answer the questions about his appearance and achievements. Para2: put the facts of Yuan Longping in order. Para3: talk about Yuan’s personality. Para4: talk about Yuan’s dreams Part Four

Post-reading

Ask the students to read the whole passage again and finish the resume.

Ask the students to introduce Yuan Longping in the class. Part Five

Summary and homework

Guide the students to underline some useful words and expressions.

Rewrite the passage.
