Unit 3 Who’s That Man?

Teaching Goals:

1. Students can comprehend the following new words or phrases: grassland, in the past, be helpful to. 2. Students can tell Wang Wanqing’s story to their families or friends. 3. Students can be a man just like Wang Wanqing who loves his country and people deeply.

Students Analysis: Maybe students are not interested in English even hate it but I believe they will

hate it less and less because of me.

Maybe students never heard about Wang Wanqing but I believe they can be interested in WangWanqing. Maybe students will run into trouble when they read the text but I believe they can overcome it at last.

Key Point: Students can comprehend the following new words or phrases: grassland, in the past, be helpful to.

Difficult point:

Students can retell Wang Wanqing’s story.

Teaching Process:

Watching a show about Wang Wanqing. When the show is over, I give students three questions: 1. Who’s that man? 2. Where is he from? 3. What does he do? ‖

Presentation

1. First Reading Let students scan the text and answer my questions: (1). where did he work?(teaching "grassland": grass+land)

(2). How many years did he work there? (3). Is he very helpful to the people there? 2.

Second Reading (1) Listen to the radio and Let students find the new words or phrases they can’t understand.

past：ago in the past: 在过去。

helpful: help+ful

be helpful to : 对...有帮助

eg: Wang Wanqing is helpful to the people on the grassland.

Mrs. Zhang is helpful to her students.

(2) Let Students read after the radio. (3) Boys act Colin and Girls act Wu Chen. (4) Boys act Wu Chen and Girls act Colin.
