Lesson 38

Can you see me? Teaching aim: 1. Practising phonics. To read the words and story with the help of phonics.

2. Trying to grasp and understand the usage of prepositions.

3. Learning the high-frequency words and the rhyming words.

Learning to use them.

4. Loving to read.

5. Loving to act the story out and making up a new one. Teaching procedure:

Greeting Step 1: Talk about the cover: What can you see? What colour is it? Can you see Teddy? Where is it? Try to guess.

Step 2: Read the story slowly. Find the difficult words and learn the words with the help of phonics.

e.g.

Find the word “frog”

and read the whole sentence together.

Ask them to tell you how they could read “frog”.

Stretch out all the phonemes “ f-r-o-g”. Think of some more “fr “words. friend/ freeze/form/fry...

Step 3:

Ask them if they can remember any rhyming words from the story. Read the story again to see if they were right. Step 4:

Write “dog”and “frog” on a board.

Ask them which two letters are the same in both words.

Think of some more words that rhyme. Make a rhyme using some of these words.

Step 5: Re-read the story. Looking for the things hidden in the picture each time. Ask them to tell you where the object is without pointing. Encourage the use of prepositions. “on/under/between/behind...”

Step 6:

Use the pictures and tell them the location of a picture without naming it.

e.g. My picture is above a house and below an apple. What is it?

Ask them to describe the location of other pictures or group to guess. Step 7: Listen , read and imitate.

Step 8: Ask a child to be Teddy. Teddy can go anywhere in the classroom. Other children try to explain the location of Teddy. Such as “

Teddy is behind the door.”... The one who can explain the positions

correctly is the next Teddy.

Step 9: Ask some questions to understand the story deeply.

Step 10 : Talk about the things you have lost yourself and where you found them.
