Unit 4 Pygmalion Period 2 Learning about language

Teaching goals:

1.

Get to learn some words and phrases: hesitate, mistaken, classify, remark, condemn, fortune, superior, pass...off as..., make one’s acquaintance, generally speaking, in terms of.

2.

Understand some useful sentence patterns: be of +抽象名词；while引导的省略句。

3.

According to the context, use new words, expressions and difficult sentences correctly. Teaching procedures: Step one: Engagement

A.

Ask the students to underline the strange bold words in the text and work out the meanings of them by looking them up in the dictionary or consult their group members.

B.

Present the meanings of the strange words to the whole class and accept questions from other groups.

Step two: Study

Work out the meaning of the bold words in the following contexts. 1.
