Pre-reading (5 mins)

Let students talk about the importance of teachers and what kind of teachers they would like to meet.

T: Now please talk about the importance of teachers according to the case of Anne Sullivan and Halen Keller. And if you were Halen, what kind of teacher would you like to meet? Ok. Who would like to share with us?

T: Excellent! Now after this part we will turn to page 12 and deal with the passage “My New Teachers”.

Step IV

While-reading Skimming (5 mins)

Deal with the questions in the pre-reading part. T: Skim the text and answer the pre-reading questions. Four minutes later we will check the answers. Suggested answers: 1. Mr. Wu is the most popular teacher and the students like him a lot. 2. Mrs. Chen is a very good teacher but is serious and strict. Scanning (8 mins) Deal with some details about each teacher. Ask students to read the text again and fill in the form with three teachers’ information.
