Teaching Aims:

1. Knowledge:

a. The structure of the present perfect tense. b. The usages of the present perfect tense. 2. Ability:

a. Enable the students to use the present perfect tense in their writing and speaking. b. Enable the students to tell the difference between the simple past tense and the present perfect tense.

3. Feelings and Attitude:

a. Let the students know the achievements and changes of their high school.

b. Encourage the students to speak English in public. Important Points:

Let the students understand the usages of present perfect tense. b.

The differences between the past simple tense and present perfect tense. Difficult Points:

Help the students use the present perfect tense to describe achievements and changes. Teaching Methodology: The New Senior English Curriculum Standards aim education for all students and stress quality-oriented education. The main task of education is to stimulate and cultivate students’ interest and their confidence in learning the language, help them develop good learning habits and form effective learning strategies, facilitate autonomy and cooperative spirit in learning; enable the students to master basic English language knowledge and skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing.

According to the new standards, the students should be the center of the class and the teacher serves as a controller, organizer, participant, or resource-provider. Considering the characteristics of the teaching contents and the learners, I will set up various situations in my teaching to let my students experience the usages of the present perfect tense. Most of the usages will be summarized by students themselves. Teaching Aids: A computer, a projector, black board, chalks Teaching Procedures: Ⅰ. Lead in: 1. Show a short video to introduce the core question: introduce achievements of your high school to the foreigners. 2. Present a short passage and let the students underline the sentences with the

present perfect tense (划出用现在完成时的句子). Chengdu is one of the most gorgeous cities that I have ever known. I have lived in Chengdu since I was young. I have witnessed (见证) many things taking place in this city.

First, the transportation has become smooth. Many years ago, there were less bus stations. People always needed to change their lines by many cars. But now, we have built more and more subways in the past few years, which is very convenient(方便的) for people to work and go shopping.

Second, many old houses have been replaced by new tall buildings. A new sports centre has also been built recently. We can now play basketball there after school.

Finally, it is obvious that life is getting better by the day, and I can see that more changes are on the way.

3. Three tasks we need to fulfill:

 The basic usages of the present perfect tense and its mark words. (现在完成时的基本用法、及其标志词)  The differences between the present perfect tense and the simple past tense.
