Analysis of teaching material This unit mainly talks about the advertisements,which is made up of commercial ads and public service ads. This class is the last period of project. The passage“Anti-smoking ad campaign”informs us of the great damages that smoking does to people,so we must discourage the young people from smoking .According to the new Curriculum Criteria, I decide to adopt Task-based Learning. The students will be given a topic to talk about the great damage that smoking does to people. By expressing various opinions,the students can form their own view.In this way, not only will the students' learning motivation be greatly stimulated, but also their communication skills will be effectively improved. Knowledge aim: Understanding the reason why we must carry out anti-smoking ad campaign,and they can state some of the damages.

Ability aims: 1)

To improve students’ ability of listening reading speaking and writing.

To summary the great damage that smoking does to people and write an ad about anti-smoking..

To master some useful vocabularies and phrases.

Increase students’ social responsibility awareness and make the students form good habits

Teaching procedures Step 1 Warming Up 1.

give the students four pictures then discuss: do you think smoking is cool ? The students will try to be volunteers to say out the related opinions. 2.

Show some pictures about the great damages that caused by smoking. The students will be encouraged to express their different opinions.some think it is cool because it is fashionable and make them relaxed comfortable.others don’t think so,because it is harmful,a waste of money,cause fire. Show so many pictures to attract the students’ attention quickly and to stimulate the students’ learning interest and motivation.then we can

bring out the topic of this class. Step 2 Fast Reading

Books open,then ask the students to listen to the mp3 and

skim the passage, and answer the questions on the screen .choose some students to answer. Step 3 Detailed Reading

The students are motivated to skim the second paragraph, find out the needed information.The students are encouraged to answer the three questions as quickly as they can. As is known to us ,May 31 is World No Tobacco Day.although we are the teenagers,we can also carry out the anti-smoking campaign. The students will first look through the third paragraph and discuss it in groups, Then they will try to be volunteers and give their ideas.show the answers on the screen. I will show you a popular ad campaign carried out by Yiyangqianxi,one of the singers from TF BOYS. Next,to make them understand and learn what is about ,I will give two examples about anti-smoking to them.

group Ask the students to form a group ,and come up with a striking and educative poster for the campaign? To encourage the students to use the cooperative learning methods Ask the students to show the works to the blackboard ,some ad posters are really attractive. Step 5

Homework:

Ask the students to write a composition titled anti-smoking

based on the discussion above. Exercise on the students’ books.
