Teaching difficulties:how to let students master the reading skills. Pre-reading Step 1.Revision
Provide the students with some pictures of daily 教学过程
activities and ask them to talk about them by using the words and sentence structures. Step 2. New words study
In this step, there are two new words to learn: quickly and sometimes. Through this step, it makes the students feel easier to learn the new article.
While-reading Step 1.Skimming
Ask the students to read the passage roughly in one minute to get the main idea of the text. By doing this task, the Ss can practice a new reading skill, that is ,skimming for the main idea.
Step2.Scanning A.Yes/No Questions
Ask the students to read the passage carefully in six minutes and finish the “Yes/No Questions” and then hold a group game to check the answers. B.Wh-questions
Ask the students to read this passage once more in four minutes and finish the Wh-questions. Through this step, the Ss can have a better understanding of the whole passage. Post-reading Step 1. Exercise 2c
Ask the Ss to finish exercise 2c on page 11. Write down the unhealthy habits of both Tony and Mary. Then think of
healthy activities for them. Through this exercise, the Ss can have a deeper understanding of the reading article. They can aware that everyone has healthy and unhealthy habits. The most important point is to get rid of the unhealthy ones.
Step 2.Gap-filling
Provide the students with a summary of the text, leaving some blanks for the students to fill in. Through filling the blanks, the Ss can memorize some important words or phrases in the text.
Step 3. Difficult sentences analysis Through this step, the students can master the language points better.
