Unit 9 My favorite subject is science.

Teaching aims and language points: 1. Learn these words and expressions, and can say, read and write them: free, cool, A.M., P.M., useful, from, from ... to ..., Mrs. , lesson, hour 2. Learn these words and expressions, and can say and read them: left, right, opposite, schedule, description, the same as 3. Can talk about subjects, lessons and teachers by using these patterns --What do you think of English?

--It's useful, interesting and easy. --When is the class? It's on Tuesday. --When does David have English?

--He has English from 9:00 to 9:40.

Teaching steps: 1. Warm-up.

Daily greeting to the students 2. Revision and presentation.

Show a picture of an English book. Ask the Ss:

T: What subject is it?

Ss: It’s English.

Then ask: T: What do you think of English? Help them to answer. Ss: It’s useful, interesting and easy.

Show a picture of a Chinese book. Ask the Ss:

T: What subject is it?

Ss: It’s Chinese. T: What do you think of Chinese?

Show some pictures to lead the Ss to give answers like “It’s easy/fun/useful”. Present the new word useful. 3.

Work on 1a.

(1) Read the words in 1a. (2) Match the words on the left with their opposites on the right.

(3) Teach the new words: free, cool

(4) Check the answers.

Listening practice.

(1) Work on 1b. Listen and check the words in 1a. (2) Read the schedule.

教学设计说明

1. 先复习学科名词，再讨论对学科的看法。

2. 用图片表意，引导学生用相关的形容词来表达对计算机课程的看法,复习boring, difficult, busy, interesting, fun, easy。

3.1a的重点是教学两个生词：

free, cool.

4. 1b听力练习非常简单，所以可以一带而过。充分利用好1c的日程表，首先阅读日程表，让学生看懂日程表，提醒他们要同时注意时间和科目，这样学生才能顺利完成1c的听力

about on the schedule. (4) Check the answers together.

5. Pair work. (1) Work on 1d. Ss talk about David’s favorite subject in pairs. Then

ask one pair to present their conversation to the class. (2) Ss follow the sample to talk about their own favorite subjects in pairs.

5. 1d的话题是在Section A的基础上增加了以when开头的问句。学生首先根据听力(3) Get them to show their conversations in their groups. And then check

some pairs. 6. Homework

(1) Recite the words aloud. (2) Write a passage according to the schedule. 材料完成书上方框内的对话，再模仿例子谈论自己的情况。
