Welcome to the unit

Step 1 Lead in

In unit 5, we talked about the amazing things in the world. And because of these amazing things, our world is so colourful, wonderful and amazing,too. Today we’ll learn Unit6 Outdoor fun. On weekdays, people are all busy. Your parents are busy doing their jobs, you are busy with your lessons. But at weekends, things are different. We need to relax ourselves. Some people stay at home and watch TV, and others may go out to have fun. They are hiking in the mountains, they are cycling on the road...... Today we are going to talk about these outdoor activities. We have 3 objectives.(show the 3 objectives)

Step 2 Presentation

Enjoy a video. How exciting! Isn’t it? Can you name these outdoor activities?

2. Learn and say. Show the first picture and ask, What are they doing? Why do they like doing it? Teach ‘go jogging’

Brainstorm. T: Do you know other outdoor activities? I will show you some pictures for help. Try to say as many outdoor activities as you can. Teach diving, boating, skiing, climbing, fishing, roller skating. T: Great! There are so many outdoor activities. Which is your favourite? 4.

Talk about their own favourite outdoor activities. 5. Listen and answer. T: Daniel and Amy are also talking about outdoor activities. Let’s listen to their conversation. Try to find the answer to the questions. (1) What are their favourite outdoor activities?(Amy wants to go riding and Daniel likes to go camping.) (2) Why do they like the two activities? (Amy loves horses and she really wants to ride one. Daniel likes being outside, near beautiful lakes and hills.) 5.

Step 1 presentation 1. Listen and answer. T: Eddie and Hobo are going out for fun. Let’s see what is happening to them. Listen carefully and try to find out the answers to the following questions: (1) How does Eddie feel? (2) Why can’t Eddie hurry up?

T: Can you guess the meaning of “hurry up”? It is similar to “come on”. 3. Read and answer. T: Now, please open your books and read the dialogue with the tape. While reading, pay attention to the sounds and intonation. After reading, you should answer two questions. (1)

Who complains too much? (Eddie complains too much.) (2)

Why does he complain ? (Because the bag is too heavy.) Teach ‘complain’

4. Act it out. T: By now, we’ve known the dialogue better. Please work with your partner and read the dialogue again. Later, we will act it out. 5. Practice. V. Homework

1. Recite the dialogue between Eddie and Hobo; 2. Practice talking about outdoor activities. 教学反思：

本节课，老师首先回顾了第五单元的话题内容，引出第六单元，通过一段音像，让学生了解本单元我们要谈论的话题--户外活动。再通过图片引导学生自己说出这些户外活动的名称，以及人们从事这些户外活动的理由。之后，让学生们谈论自己喜欢的户外活动。Comic部分，通过观看Eddie和Hobo的表演，然后进行问题讨论，并且要求学生在课堂内表演对话。不足的地方是学生对话活动略显僵硬，沉闷。但整个课堂结构非常合理。
