Ability Objective (1)Students can improve their speaking ability by asking and answering about theirs favorite subjects as well as their reasons. (2)Students can improve their listening ability by listening to the tape to get the detailed information. 3. Emotional Objective

Students may find study is hard. But they should know what to do when they face difficulties. They should fight and study hard and not give up. Teaching Key Points

Make the students master the key words and sentence patterns.

Teaching Difficult Points Let students use the sentences that they will learn to ask and answer their favorite subject, reasons, as well as the time of the subject class.

Teaching Procedures: Step 1 Warm up and lead-in (5minutes) (1)The teacher greets everyone and introduces herself briefly. Then, ask students:

T: What day is it today?

Ss: It’s Saturday.

T: How to spell Saturday?

S1: S-a-t-u-r-d-a-y.

T: How many days are there in a week?

S2: Seven.

T: What are they?

Ss: They are Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. (2) Play a video Days of Week. Let students sing together imitating the video. (Justification: It can arouse students’ interest in class, let them know what they will learn in this class, and it is easier to enter the next part.)

Step 2 Presentation (20minutes) (1)

The teacher ask students the questions

What’s your favorite day in a week?

My favorite day is... What’s your favorite subject?

It means: What subject do you like best? My favorite subject is…. Then, the teacher shows some pictures of subjects in PPT, lets students write down the name of subjects accordingly in two minutes, and asks two students to write down on the blackboard. The teacher checks the answers and let students read after the teacher.

The teacher says: My favorite subject is English, because it’s interesting. Then, asks some questions, and lets different students to answer.

Then, the teacher shows some adjectives in PPT, lets them finish 1a, and play a small game. A Small Game: one student says an adjective; the other student says its opposite

The teacher shows the timetable of classes in PPT, then asks students:

When is the ___ class?

It’s on ____.

Then, let students practice with clapping their hands:

Monday, Monday, Math is on Monday. Tuesday, Tuesday, P.E. is on Tuesday. Wednesday, Wednesday, Music is on Wednesday. Thursday, Thursday, Art is on Thursday. Friday, Friday, History is on Friday.

Saturday, Saturday, We are free on Saturday. Sunday, Sunday, No class that day. (Justification: It can help students learn the key words and sentences in an interesting atmosphere. It’s easier for students to master the new word and use the sentences.)

Step 3 Practice and Production (15 minutes) (1)

Finish 1c. Listen the tape; circle the classes David talks about on this schedule. Then, listen again and finish the following questions. A: Is David okay? Why? No, he isn’t. Because he has two math classes. B: Does David like math? Why?

No, he doesn’t. Because he thinks it’s difficult. C: What’s David’s favorite subject?

His favorite subject is Chinese. (2)

Give students 5 minutes to work in pairs, practicing the dialogue of 1d. Then ask some pairs to show their dialogue in front. A: What’s David’s favorite subject?

B: His favorite subject is ____.

B: Because it’s ______.

Step 4 Summary and Homework (5minutes) (1)
