I．Teaching aims

According to the new standard curriculum and the syllabus, after studying the teaching material, the teaching aims are the followings

1. Aim to the knowledge:

Learn some words and phrases related to “neighborhood”

（organization, committee, club, children, adults, etc）

2. Aim to the abilities:

1) Let students learn how to get information of Mr Yang’s neighborhood.

2) Guide students get a certain idea of how to do a survey on the topic.

3. Emotion aims: 1) Get students know more about their neighborhood.

2) Make students understand the meanings of cooperative learning. 2: Teaching key points 1) Get students know more about neighborhood by the interview. 2) Guide them to do their own survey. II: Teaching difficult points: 1) Guide students to take notes while listening. 2) Lead students to understand stress in post-listening. III: Teaching methods：

1) Communicative teaching method

2)Audio-visual teaching method

Stage1 : Lead in（1 mins）

Greetings & warming up.

Purpose : Make sure the students know what they are going to learn.

Stage 2 : Pre-Listening ( 4 mins)

Reviewing some words related.

Purpose : Prepare students on necessary language so that listening would be easier.

Stage 3: While –listening (15 mins)

Excise 1: Listen passage 1 and fill in the form.

1. Where was Mr. Yang born?

2. What's his job?

3. What is the committee do?

Our job is to ____ _____

the neighborhood .

( For example, we’ve started a holiday

______

for children.) Purpose: 1) Make sure the students know what the listening is about.

2) Get students understand the importance of taking notes in detailed listening.

Excise 2: Listen again and complete the dialogue. Purpose: Get students further understand the listening material and learn some key phrases.

Excise 3: Listen passage 2 and complete the chart.

Purpose: 1) Consolidate how to say numbers and take down notes, especially

numbers about 8.

2) Lead them how to deal with new words while listening. Stage 4: Post-listening (18 mins) Discussion: Survey your partner about his/her neighbourhood. Add some more questions in the given table. Then give a presentation about “My Neighbourhood“.

With this task, students are supposed to learn the way to make a survey, meanwhile, in order to speak the presentation out, they have to cooperate and discuss to find more information about their neighbourhood, which develops their ability of cooperation.) Stage 5 : Homework （2min）

Write a brief report of your neighborhood according to your discussion. Purpose: Give the students a clear idea of how to express their ideas and revise the articles. VI: Teaching reflection

During my teaching, I’ll try my best to get my class alive and encourage the students to talk with each other in English. I think the general aim of English teaching is to improve the ability of using English. And I’ll use this to guide my teaching.
