After learning the reading of The problem of the snakes, students have had a general idea of doing scientific research. This lesson aims to check whether they have remembered the language used in the reading and express their ideas when they are faced with failure.

1. To improve the students speaking and writing skills. 2. To enable the students to correct the mistakes and grade their own writing.

3. To encourage the students to work with team members.

Difficult points

1. How to choose proper words in different expressions. 2.How to stimulate students’ interest in learning writing .

Learning

Methods

The students have the following characteristics:

1. Students are in Senior Grade 2.

2. Students have learned words and expressions about scientific research .

4. Students find it difficult to write a good composition.

So during this lesson, the following learning methods will be used:

1. Learning Autonomy (Learning by themselves)

2. Task Practice Method

3. Communicative Strategy

As we all know, the best way to learn English is to imitate, to listen, to speak, to read and

to use as much as possible. That is to say, “Practice makes perfect.”

Teaching

Methods

This class is the student centered teaching. The teacher is a director, while the students are actors. And I will try my best to limit TTT, that is. Limit Teacher Talking Time and increase STT (Students Talking Time). So during this lesson, the following methods will be used: 1. Heuristic mode of teaching：Students are encouraged to show their opinions. 2. Discussion method：Through discussion, students can share their different opinions and learn how to cooperate with each other.

Procedures

Part 1

Lead-in and revision 1.

Step 1 Lead in （1minutes)

Show some questions and raise the students interest in discussing the topic. Review some words and expressions. .

Step 2

Contest 1 （9minutes) Group discussion and presentation. After 3minutes’ discussion, students volunteer to show their opinions according to the questions. One point will be given to each student.

your best to solve it? Will you give it up if you fail many times?

Part 2 Practice makes perfect.

Students discuss the topic, and draw a mind map to show their opinions.

Each group shows their mind maps and teacher gives a summary.

Students are asked to translate the following sentences orally.

She tried three ways in order to catch the snakes but not harm them. 尽管她失败了两次，但她没有放弃，

She failed twice, but she didn’t give it up. 继续改进她的设想计划，结果，她成功了。

She continued improving her design, and as a result, she succeeded. 如我遇到困难，我会尽力去解决它，

If I meet a problem, I will try my best to solve it. 即使会失败很多次，我也不会放弃，

I won’t give it up even if I fail many times.

I will stick to it until I achieve the final success.

I hope that everyone can use their head when they have a problem.

The final success will eventually belong to you. Step III Writing (13mins) In this part, students are given some time to writing the letter, and teacher will choose one or two writings to analyse in front of the class. Teacher also teaches students how to evaluate partners’ writing by the evaluation form.

Advantages：
