Step 1 Free talk

Talk about two signs the students have learnt.

1.Look at the sign. What does it mean?

It means danger.

When we see the sign on the wall of a building, what should we do?

Can you go in?

You must stay a way from it. We learnt “stay” from the phase “stay at home”. What must you not do?

We mustn’t go in. (Teach mustn’t)

2.Look at the electrical box. What must you do? What must you not do? Why we mustn’t go in, mustn’t touch it, must stay away from it?

Step 2 Presentation

1. The students know how dangerous the road are from a video.

Actuelly, in our daily life, there are many other dangerous places, especially the road.

Let’s watch a vedeo. After watching you will know how dangerous the roads

are.

Now do you know what we must do on the road?

Above all, we must know how to stay safe on the road!

2. The students read the story, then finish some tasks.

But do you know how to stay safe on the road?

Let’s learn Unit4. In this unit, you will know sth.(read the titl e)

(1) The students learn the first paragraph and act it out.

Now let’s read the whole story. I will give you a question. What does the story tell us?

After reading, you should choose the right answer.

Yes, it tell us how to cross the road safely.

Do you k now “cross”? Look at the road, if you walk from here to there. Does it mean “cross”?

What about this way: you walk from this side to the other side. Which one means cross?

We have know that the story tells us how to cross the road safely. Now please read this part of the story, tyr to answer “how can you cross the road safely”. Try to read.

There are some new phases in this passage. (Teach zebra crossing and traffic lights )

What about this one? It’s a red man.

Look at him. He is a traffic police. He also tells us how to cross the road safely. Who can read?

(2) The students learn the second paragraph and finish a task.

We can cross the road when there is a zebra crossing and traffic lights. But in our life, there will be sth. different. Sometimes we can’t find a zebra crossing or the zebra crossing is very far away from you. What must you do? Stop crossing? No, let’s go on learning. This time you should finish this task listen and write. Ok?

Why we look left first? It is according to the road rules in China. Let’s read. Look at the road. The cars drive on the right of the road. So first, we must look at left.

Let’s do this, OK? Read this part after me.

Here are some new word and prase too. Pavement/Look out of. Can you guess its meaning?

Of course, we have many other ways to do that we can stay safe on the road. F or example…Who can read for us?

(3) The students learn the third paragraph and fill in the blanks.

Just now, we learnt a lot that we must do on the road. What we must not do? Let’s read the last part of the story and t hen you should find out the main meaning.

Running and playing football are very dangerous. (板书)What about this boy? Is he right? He is climbing over the fence. And he? He is playing skateboard on the road.

Not only run or playing football. We mustn’t do ma ny things on the road. Or the cars may hit you!

Step 3 Summary

We have learnt the whole story. What do we learn from it?

Above all, we must remember To stay safe on the road, we must follow the rules!
