Step I. Class Opening.
1.Greetings!
T: Hello, boys and girls.
Ss: Hello, Miss Tian. T: How are you today? Ss: Fine,thanks. And you? T: I’m fine,thank you.
T: Can you tell me “How old are you?”(找其中一名学生提问) S1: I’m_____years old.
T:Can you tell me”How tall are you?”(问其中一名学生) S2: I’m_____meters tall.
T:How do you go to school? S3: By______. (设计意图:课前师生亲切的交流可以拉近师生之间的距离,并为下面旧知的复习奠定基础。)
2.Review. 1) Show pictures of Miss Yang. T:Ok.Boys and girls,please look here. Who is she?
Ss:Miss Yang. T:Yes.Guess,how old is Miss Yang?
S1: She is____years old. T:Maybe. S2:She is___years old. T:Maybe. T:Let’s look,how old is Miss Yang. age(年龄):25
Ss:She is twenty-five years old. T:Good. 2)
Show a picture of Yao Ming.
T:Who is he? Ss:Yao Ming. T:Guess,how old is he? S1:He is_____years old. T:Maybe.
S2:He is_____years old. T:Maybe. T:Look,how old is Yao Ming? age(年龄):33
Ss:He is thirty-three years old. T:Miss Yang and Yao Ming,who is older? Ss:Yao Ming is older. T:Yes. Yao Ming is older than Miss Yang.Read follow me,”older than”. Ss:older than..... T:What does it mean? S1:姚明比杨老师大。
T:Good.Older than means “比......大.......”
3) 同样的方式比较Miss Yang 和Yao Ming的height(身高),并教授”taller than” .
(设计意图:在复习旧知,进行比较的过程中将故事中的难点处理掉,为下面故事的学习清理阅读障碍同时也为下面故事人物的出现奠定基础。)
Step II. Story 1.
Pre-reading activities 引出人物。
T:Boys and girls,we know Yao Ming is tall. But there is a
girl, she is taller than Yao Ming.
(用阴影的形式遮住Maddy)Do you know who is she? Ss:............ T:Maybe. T: Now,let’s look. Who is she? (将阴影除掉)Oh,she is a monster.(板书并教授monster.)She is
a girl. Her name is Maddy.
T:Maddy has a good friend.She is a girl,too.Do you know who is she? Ss:....... T:Let’s look. Anna
T:She’s Anna. T:Do you want to know more things about Maddy and Anna?
Ss:Yes. (设计意图:由前面的内容自然引出故事人物,进而对学生们讲一些更多关于Maddy和Anna的事情。)

While-reading activities 1) Fill in the chart. T:OK. Let’s watch the video (Picture1-picture4)and fill in the chart.
T:OK.This time read picture1-picture4 by yourself,and then tell me the answers.

在核对Maddy和Anna的年龄时,注意一下几个问题:
T:Maddy and Anna,who is older? Ss:Maddy. T:Yes,Maddy is older than Anna. T:Is Maddy an old monster? Ss:No. T:Yes,Maddy is a young monster.Because all the monsters grow to be very very old. 在核对Maddy和Anna的身高时,也要注意一下几个问题:
T:Maddy and Anna,who is taller? Ss:Maddy. T:Yes,Maddy is taller than Anna. (设计意图:让学生带着问题去听、看故事可以培养学生寻找关键问题的能力。)
