Task 1 pair-work Look at the following sentences and discuss the tense. Work in pairs and summarize the usage of grammar. 1. I go to church on Sundays. 2. I write to my parents once a month. 3. The earth moves around the sun. 4. The plane takes off at 10:00. 5. I will go with you if it doesn’t rain tomorrow. Task 2 Conclusion Conclude the grammar rules of the present simple tense. 1. 一般现在时的结构

主语（第三人称单数）+动词s/es+其他

2. 一般现在时的用法

（1）表示经常性或习惯性的动作，常用时间副词：

always, never, occasionally, often, usually, every day, sometimes, on Mondays, twice a year 等

eg. He always works at night.

I write to my parents once a month.

2.表示客观事实或者普遍真理。

eg. Knowledge is power.

The earth moves around the sun.

3. 按时刻表发生的动作。

eg. The plane takes off at 10:00.

School begins on March 5.

4.在时间状语从句或者条件状语从句中，用一般现在时代替一般将来时，即“主将从现”。

eg. I’ll wait till he comes.

I will go with you if it doesn’t rain tomorrow.

2. 现在进行时的用法

（1）表示说话时刻正在进行的动作。常用时间状语：now, at this time, at the moment, at present等。

eg. We are doing our homework.

What is he doing now?

（2）表示现阶段正在进行的动作。常用时间状语：these days, this week.

eg. We are learning English this term.

He is writing a novel these days.

（3）表示反复发生的动作，常与

always, forever, constantly, all the time, continually, simply 等时间副词连用。用来表示不满、抱怨或赞赏等情感。

eg. She is always finding fault with others.

He is always thinking of others.
