Step 2 Pre-reading 1. Talk about Chinese New Year.

T: What are we going to do at Chinese New Year？

Ss: We are going to buy new clothes, buy new flowers, clean our house, eat nice food, make tangyuan and dumplings, get red packets, light fireworks and firecrackers , watch lion dance and Spring Festival Gala. Teach the words: food, tangyuan, red packets, a lion dance, fireworks, firecrackers. T:Before Chinese New Year, I am going to give you four presents: light firecrackers, watch fireworks, watch a lion dance and get red packets. What are you going to do? Ss: Get red packets.
