Teaching Procedures (T: the teacher; Ss: the students)

Step 1 Lead-in T shows some movie clips from the film Avatar to students and ask them the following questions: 1) Do you like the film? 2) Do you feel exciting if you are actually in the film? Why? 3) Do you know 3-D film? ( It is a film people watch with a special pair of headsets, which gives a three-dimensional effect with images in the dimensions of width, height and depth.) Step 2 Pre-reading 1. Ss are asked to answer the questions: (1) What’s the main idea of this passage? (2) What information about RealCine does the writer give? First T asks Ss to read the title and the first paragraph of the passage. Then, they are required to answer them within 1 minute.

A business presentation should be clear and appealing. A good presentation usually includes specific information and convincing facts or examples. To make the presentation objective, the passive voice is preferred. (2) Ss are asked to read the reading strategy.

Step 3 While-reading 1. Ss are asked to analyze the structure of the passage. (1)T guides Ss to read the first sentence of each paragraph to find out how many parts the passage can be divided into in 1 minute.
