Teaching procedures: Step1. Leading-in: Get the students to discuss the three pictures in the Warming up part and tell the Greek story of Pygmalion. Step2. Introduce the author and the play George Bernard Shaw, Irish dramatist, literary critic, a social spokesman, was born in 1856, in Ireland and died in 1950. He was awarded the

Nobel Prize for Literature in 1925.

This play by Bernard Shaw is an adaptation of a Greek story-----

Pygmalion, a gifted artist, makes a stone statue of a beautiful woman. He asks the Greek Goddess to bring her to life. His wish is granted. Step3. Reading: 1.
