King Lear 课型

Reading Ss will be able to read and recognize some words and phrases about personalities,such as hot-headed,innocent,loyal,etc.They will be able to express their opinions on each characters and make up a conversation. Ss will be able to grasp a whole picture and detailed plots of the play.Ss will develop some basic skills of reading.They will be able to read with questions and read for thinking.Finally Ss will develop the ability of cooperation with their group members. Ss will build a new logical relationship based on analysing and inferring the information in the play and they will express their opinions creatively. Ss will be able to get familiar with the great works by Shakspeare and the life story of the great literaturer.They will be able to analyse the desire and the greed and the greatness of the different characters and sort out the good qualities from the two plays. To enable the Ss have a better understandnig of the theme of the play To instruct Ss to find out approach to improving their ability, especially reading, teaching themselves

教学过程

Step 1. Warming up (2 mins) The teacher asks Ss some questions about father. Q1:Do you love your father? Q2:If you were married, whom would you love more, your wife/husband or your father?Why? Step 2. Pre-reading (2 mins)

The teacher asks Ss to watch a video clip and think about the main idea and main characters. Step 3. While-reading (20 mins) 1)Skimming:The teacher asks Ss to skim the text and fill in the blanks to finish the main idea and understand the main characters. King Lear decides to _____ and ________ his kingdom among his three daughters. He will give the ______ part to the one who loves him most.The two older daughters declare their ______ for their father.But the youngest daughter says _________. 2)Reading: The teacher asks Ss to read the text carefully and try to complete the mind maps of rising action and climax. Step 5.Post- reading (10 mins) Act the play out In groups prepare a role-play.You can choose 5 characters in the play. Step 6.Homework(1 min) Write down a paragraph to analyse the characters' personalities.
