Teaching aims: 1.

Help students learn to talk about their abilities. 2.

Help students get some necessary information from listening materials. 3.

Help students understand the importance of working hard and how to work hard. Teaching points: 1.Talk about abilities 2. Understand how to become a good student. Teaching methods: Task-based method Learning methods: Self-learning, Group discussion Teaching procedures: Step 1: Free talk 1.

Watch a short video. In the video, different students have different abilities.

What abilities do they have? (play the piano/ drawing/ dancing/ calligraphy…) 2. Show two pictures to present : piano/ violin ( be good at / do well in playing the piano) 3. What abilities do you have?

When did you start to do…? ( 呈现at the age of …/ when sb. was six years old)

Step 2: Speak up Task 1: Listen and answer: (听前注意读问题，注意wh-疑问词，对抓住关键信息有帮助) 1. What can Daniel do?

How about Sandy? 2. When did Daniel start to play the violin? 3. When did Sandy start to play the piano? Task 2：Read the conversation in pairs and read it in roles Task 3: Make up a new dialogue with their deskmates.

Step 3: Presentation ( 创设情境呈现单词和短语) 1.

T: You have different abilities, and I have abilities,too. Can you guess what I can do? (S: you can sing/ draw/ speak English/……) 2.

Show Suzy’s English test paper last term and this term, talk about her study. (呈现show/ term) Questions: How did Suzy get on with her study? ( 呈现do badly in…)

Step 4: Show Suzy’s report card Task 1: Show Suzy’s report card about all her subjects. Task 2: Listen and finish part A1 on P87.(根据所给信息，听前预测) Task 3: Do some T or F questions according to the information in part A1. Task 4: Mr Wu is preparing notes for the parents’ meeting.
