Teaching Aims

1. Knowledge aims:

(1)Students can understand and use the words and phrases.

(2)Students can master some new sentences: what can you do? I can….

2. Ability aims:

(1)Students can use the words and phrases to describe their own abilities;

(2) Students can improve their listening and speaking abilities;

(3)Students can use English to talk about the thing they are interested in.

3. Emotional aims :

Can improve the confidence of learning English, and not afraid of speaking English in class;

Analysis of the students

The students of Grade5 have got certain listening ability, which still needs well improving. And their speaking ability is not as good as expected, which will be improved in this period through some exercise.So I often use some activities in the

class to finish some tasks such as individual, pair or group work to let each of them have more chances to practise English and involve actively in the lesson, thus to make some improvement .

Teaching Key Points&difficult Points

The key points are:

(1) To use the words and phrases, such as, “sing”,“song”,“kung fu”,“dance”;“sing English songs”,“play the pipa”,“do kung fu”,“draw cartoons”。

(2) To use the new sentences “What can you do?”“I can …”to communicate with others fluently in their daily life. The difficult points are:

(1)Can use the new sentence to communicate with others fluently.

(2)Can improve the confidence of learning English, and not afraid of speaking English;

Warm up:

Free talk

T:Hello! Boys and girls.I’m Apple .Good morning!

S:Good morning Miss Yu.

T:What’s your name?

S1:My name is….

T:Nice to meet you.

S1:Nice to meet you too…..

(设计思路:让学生在一个平等尊重的氛围中,放松思维,促进他们敢于说、敢于参与教学。)

Presentation:

1) Lead-in by vadio

T: Now let’s watch a small vadio. After watching,answer the question: What can the animals do?

Ss:(Watching carefully and give the answers.) The fish can swim.The dolphine can jump.The sharp can eat.

T:The animals can do many things .I can jump .I can run....(边做动作边说) And What can you do? (板书重点句型What can you do ? I can ...)

Ss:I can ....

(设计思路:让学生在喜欢的动画氛围,感受What can you do ?在现实中的应用,直观的呈现重点句型,激发学生学习的兴趣。)

2)Play a game (Who is super?)

There are two teams ——Boys and Girls .They use the sentence ( I can...)to express what they can do.In 30 seconds,who says more,who is super.

(设计意图:充分利用现代教学手段,利用倒计时组织游戏的形式有利于激发学生的兴趣和想象力,不知不觉中学习了知识。)

3) I will present some pictures to elicit the new words and phrases, such as, dance sing English, song, play the pipa, do kung fu, draw cartoons.Students will read the new words and phrases after me, and then they will read the words in groups. (设计意图:使用白板展示图片,直观的让学生了解知识,掌握知识。)

Consolidation:

1) In order to consolidate the target language, there is a game named “I say you do”. The teacher will take an example for students firstly and then invite some students to do actions while the other students will question and answer according to the sentence“What can he / she do?”“He/She can ... ?”(设计意图:演演猜猜的形式有利于激发学生的兴趣和想象力,使学生在玩中学,在学中玩。

2) Work in pairs. Students will be given a few minutes to exchange the key words to make a new dialogue. When time is up,

some pairs will show their performance on the stage and the good ones will be praised according to their performance.

(设计意图:分组操练巩固句型及对话,有利于提高学生说的能力,让学生主动运用所学知识,培养其综合语言运用能力,体现了“学以致用”的教学理念。)

Extension:

1)According to the picture ,students guess what the animals can do.then after reading tne dialogue ,students fill in the blank on the paper .After students giving tne answers,teacher and students check the answers together.

(设计思路:通过学生自己阅读短文解决问题,进一步提高学生的阅读和书写能力,同时也能提高学生的自我学习能力。)

2)By watching the vidao of Nick ,let students know Nick was broken in body but firm in spirit.We should learn the spirit of never afraid of difficulties and overcoming the challenge.And understand the phrase "Nothing is impossible to a willing heart".

(设计意图:通过学习尼克的故事,让学生能够真正地理解世上无难事,只怕有心人的真正含义。鼓励学生努力学习,不畏困难,勇往直前。)

Summary:

In order to understand what the students have learnt today, they will share it with their friends,then teacher and students summary it together.

(设计意图:让学生自己表达今天学到什么内容,能够很好的帮助学生回顾和反思这节课的内容,有助于学生养成思考的习惯。师生一起复习总结能够对新学知识作系统的概括,使知识系统化,条理化。加深学生的新学知识的理解。)

Homework:

1.Write the new words.

2.According to the theme "What can you do?",Make a survey about your family.

(设计意图:作业的形式有助于学生加深对知识掌握,能够进一步巩固知识。“Make a survey ”的形式有助于加深学生对家人的了解,促进家庭交流,加深彼此感情。)

反思:本节课的主要内容是小学英语五年级上册第四单元的第一课时,要求学生能掌握五种常见活动的英语表达方法以及学会询问朋友能做什么。我通过设计多种形式的活动,如 I say you do ,Watch a video,Do a survey ,Read a story等,实现了整节课的整体性。在本堂课中,融入的教学方法有情景教学法、多媒体教学法和实践性教学法。整个教学过程都是以“Can”为教学主线,从"What can the

animals do ?"到“What can you do?"都是这些教学方法的体现。我觉得本节课从课堂设计方面看,还是做得较好的,抓住了这节课的本,突破了本节课的重点,注重了重点句型的操练,并创设了不同的情景,让学生能在不同的语境中运用所学的句型,掌握句子的功能。在新知识的引入上,我采用的是实境引入,增强了课堂教学的真实性。在情景中教词组,在词组中教句子,在句子中教词组,让学生在认读的同时,亦了解并掌握新知识的用法与功能。

通过这次课,我收获很大,知道自己要不断充电才能跟上新的教学模式的步伐,在今后的日子里我会更加努力,进一步提高自己的教学水平。
