Lesson 7 Months of the Year Teaching aims : Knowledge aims: Students can recognize and orally use the twelve months of the year. Students can understand and orally use these sentences: What’s your favorite month? Whose birthday is in…?

Ability aims: Students can talk about their favorite month and their birth month. Students can sing a song ”Twelve Months”. Emotional aims: To develop an interest in and curious for learning English. Teaching key points: Students can recognize and orally use the twelve months of the year and the sentences

Teaching difficult points: Students can talk about their favorite month and their birth month. Teaching aids: video for lesson 7, cards for twelve months and a calendar. Teaching procedures: Step 1: warm up and lead in Play the twelve months as students arrive for class. Greeting then present learning aims. Step 2: New words First explain the meaning of “month”.

Present the now words on PowerPoint and play the video. Ask students to following along. Then play a game to practice the new words.

Look at the calendar and ask students some questions:

How many days in a month? Which is the shortest month? Which months have 30 days and which months for 31days?

Look at the pictures in part 1 and lead them to talk about the weather and divide the months into seasons. Step 3: Sentences Pointing to the months on the blackboard and tell students “These are the twelve months of the year. What’s your favorite month?” Give them an example then ask them to make a card and tell what is their favorite month.

Answer the question “Whose birthday is in July?” and hold up the card. Make a chart like the one shown in part3. Step 4: Sing a song Ask for 12 volunteers to come forward and assign one month to each student. Play the song and sing along. Step 5 Summary and homework Blackboard design: January
