Teacher and students greet each other.

Listen to an English song of letters. Let students relax,and arouse the interests of students. Step2. Review some words

Take some subjects, let students identify them, and practice sentences: —What is this in English?

—It’s a/an …

Ask several groups to practice this dialogue. Step 3. Do 3a. Listen and number the pictures[1-8]. Play the tape twice to train students’ listening skills and remember the important words in the picture.

Teacher says: “listen to the tape carefully. Number the pictures at the first time, and check your answers at the second time.”

After listening, teacher ask one student to give his answer.

(Answer: ① a key. ② a map. ③ a pen. ④ a quilt. ⑤ a ruler. ⑥ anorange ⑦a jacket. ⑧ a cup.) Step 4. Do 3b. Listen and complete the words under the pictures in 3a.

This step aims to teach students how to spell words, so that they can remember new words quickly. At the same time, they practice the sentences. Paly the tape and then ask a student to give his answer.

⑦ j,a, e. ⑧ c, p.) Step 5. Do 3c. Listen to the conversation. Then practice it with your partner.

This step aims to practice students’ ability of outputing language.

Teacher says: “ now, look at these subjects. Practice them with your partner.”

Teacher gives some help to students and corrects their mistakes.

Step 6. Do 3d. Listen to the conversations and number the words you hear [1-4]. Play the tape, and then ask one student to give his answer.

(Answer: 1-4-2-3.) Step 7. Do 3e. Talk about the things in the picture.

This step aims to let students review the new words and talk about the subjects they know.

Teacher says: “now, you practice the subjects with your partner.”

Then, ask a few pairs to act out their dialogue. Teacher corrects their mistakes and encourages them . Step 8. Summary.

Important points: 1). Remember the new words. 2). Learn the usage of “a” and “an”.
