PPT, recording ⅣTeaching steps Step 1 Warm-up Let’s sing “At the zoo”.

Step 2 Preview Preview the animals they learned and lead to the sentences “How many animals do you know?” “I know all the animals.

Step 3 Presentation

1.

Students listen to the recording and answer the question “How many animals are there in the story?”

2.

Present a picture of a tiger and students will say “A tiger”. Then present a picture of a lion to teach “lion”. Students read the sentence “A tiger and a lion” and the teacher says “Yes.”

3.

Use a picture of box to lead out the word of “fox” and help students identify a wolf from a dog. Then students say out the sentence “A fox and a wolf.” and the teacher responses “Right!”

4.

Ask “What animal?” and students guess by the tails. And then students read the sentence “A horse and a zebra.” The teacher says “Good!”

5.

Present a part of the picture of swimming monkeys and ask “Who is swimming?” and then give the full picture and help students say “They’re monkeys.”

6.

Present a picture of a monkey and a gorilla and ask “Are they monkeys?” Students may answer “No, no.” Then the teacher helps students understand the sentences “The small one is a monkey. The big one is a gorilla.” “Oops.”

Step 4 Consolidation & Extension 1.

Students listen and imitate the story. 2.

Students read in teams and with partners.

3.

Ask some pairs of students to role play the story. 4.

Sum up by a chant. 5.

Present some pictures of animals and human beings and develop students’ awareness of being kind to animals.

Step 5 Homework Give an example and students make a similar poster about how to be kind to animals after school. Step 6 Teaching reflection
