Unit 2 Poems Part 1 Teaching Design Period 3 Using Language-Listening Profession and relationship Introduction Language is learned to be used in and for communication. So in this period we shall have the students warming up by learning about the points, reading and understanding, listening and practicing. The class is to end by a testing.

Objectives ■

To help students be familiar with the form of the listening test. ■

To help students review the vocabulary for professions and relationship ■

To help students improve the listening skills Procedures

1. Warming up by learning about patterns of the questions in national university entrance exam. It is a term designating the pattern of questions and choices in the testing paper. The questions and the answers (in the form of choices) will be shown to the students. students will have a chance to get familiar with the pattern of the listening questions and at the same time review the vocabulary for professions and relationship.

2. Reading and thinking Read the previous questions in the exams and think of more English words for professions. Ask the students to make a list of the words for professions.

3. Listening strategy presentation Present the listening strategy to the class: (1).熟练掌握有关职业身份词汇

(2).根据语气，猜测关系

(3).抓住关键，及时修正

4. Listening and discussing Play the listening materials for the students to finish the given exercises specialized in professions and relationship. Play the listening material more than once for the students to listen clearly. Pause and discuss the exercises every two questions. Point out some details if necessary.

5. Testing on the topic

Have a test on the content.(5 questions about professions and relationship) Ask the students to listen and choose the best answers. Check the answers with the class.

6. Ending the period by summarizing the content. Consolidate the items learned in this period. Ask the students to pay attention to words and phrases for professions and relationship.
