Step1. Lead in Use a picture about Jurassic park to lead the students into the topic.

Step 2 Speaking & Discussion

(page 16-17) Let the students look at the explanation and the picture on P16-17 and discuss with group members which animal they would like to bring back to life. Step 3 Writing task 1.

Let students think about how to write a composition to include all the opinions about their discussion. Then give a example, let the students to analyse the passage Dear Editor,

Recently we have had a discussion about which extinct animals are worth restoring by means of cloning. Opinions are divided on this issue.

Some of the students are in favor of

cloning the dodo bird. They say the dodo bird is not only friendly but also produce large nutritious eggs which can easily hatch into young dodos. Besides, farming dodos is very easy. On the contrary, others are against it. They hold the belief that the aurochs should be brought back to life. For one thing, it has long horns and hairs which can be used as decorations and to make into clothes.

For another thing, its eating habitat is simple which can’t cost a lot of money.

Personally, the Great auk should be restored. Because its feathers do not absorb water which can be used to make clothes.
