After this lesson, students will be able to: 1)

know something about the Olympics. 2)

Learn how to make a speech and make a speech to help Wushu enter the Olympics.

II. Teaching procedures: Step1. Lead-in: Show some pictures of sports and ask the students to name them. Step2. Reading Task1. Ask the students to read the first part to fill in the following blanks. Q: What requirements must be met before a sport can be considered by the IOC?

Three requirements:

In order for a new sport to be added

Task2. Ask the students to read the second part and answer:

What sports have been removed from the Olympics? Why? Task3. Ask the students to read the third part and answer: What sports have been added in the Olympics only recently? In which year? What other sports will probably be included again? Why? Task4. Ask the students to read the last part and answer: Which sport is still trying to get into the Olympics? Step3. Making a speech: Wushu should be entered into the Olympics
