Step 1.Revision

Have a dictation .

Help students correct the mistakes in their homework .

Step 2

Listen and answer

Listen to the conversation between Hobo and Eddie and answer the following questions .

Where are Hobo and Eddie ?

2)

How does Hobo go down the hill ? 3)

What does the sign say ? 4)

Do they have to go up the hill again ?

Step 3 Read and act

Listen to the tape again and act it out .

Step 4 Presentation Learn some new words : south , north , east ,west , south-east , north-west , north-east , south-west by drawing a simple diagram on the Bb. Then make some sentences using the words . Where is the shop ? It’s south of our school. = It’s to the south of our school

Make more sentences about the directions .

Where is Shanghai ?

Where is Japan ? It’s in the east of China .

It’s to the east of China . Get students to find out the differences between the two sentences above .

Step 5 Practice

Get students to look at Welcome to the unit A and ask them to complete it . Then read it together .

Step 6 Presentation

The part will help students talk about the topic on the trip and means of transport . First get students to read and answer the following questions . 1)

Where are they going for their class trip ? 2)

How far is Sunshine Zoo from their school ? 3)

How will they get there ?

Step 7 Listen and read

Play the tape for them to listen and read .

Homework

1) Revise what we have learned in class . 2. Do Keke exercises Period 1 and Golden Key 1+1 Period 1 .
