一、Teaching aims: 1. To know what happened in the park by skimming, scanning and detailed reading and develop students’abilities of reading comprehension. 2. To be able to learn some words and phrases, such as suddenly, strange, leave, happen, as usual and so on. 3. To be able to retell the plot of the ghost story in their own words.

4. To help students respect and promote science and believe there are no ghosts in the world.二、Teaching key and difficult points: Aims 1 & 3. 三、Teaching aids: Multi-media 四、Teaching procedures: Step 1 Lead-in Enjoy a video “ Gudong is coming” to arouse students’ interest in learning the story. Step 2 Before-reading 1.Present some new words and phrases by showing some pictures. Pay attention to the pronunciations and understand the meaning of each one. 2. Read new words. 3.Show a picture of Millie and Amy, let students describe and guess the picture. Step 3 While-reading 1. Skimming Read the passage quickly and answer five questions:

When?Where?Who?What?How? 2.Scanning

1.Underline the irregular simple past tense of verbs in the passage,then read more and have a better understanding of the passage .

2.Read the passage carefully and loudly then, do “T” or “F”. ①

I was afraid when I heard the whisper. ②

The whisper came from a big tree.

We went back to the park with Andy. ④

Somebody helped Andy find the “ghost”. ⑤

Andy found a small cat in the bushes. ⑥

Andy gave the little cat to Amy. 3. Detail reading (1) Read the passage carefully and try to answer the questions. ①What did the girls do when they heard the whisper? ②How did Andy find the “ghost”? ③What did Andy do after finding the cat? ④Where did they take the little cat ? (2)Try to read some sentences emotionally to make students confident. Step 4. After-reading .

Ask students to retell the story with the help of some key phrases and pictures. Step 5.Extensive activity

Discuss with your partners: ①What do you think of Andy?

②What do you learn from the 3 students?

Show some pictures about animals to arouse students’ love of animals. Step 6. Homework
