Step I

Lead –in Lead in the class by asking the following questions 1.What sporting events do you know?

2.When did the following sporting events begin to be performed in the Olympic Games?

(Show students some pictures about sports) Step II

Reading passage one Activity1: Careful reading and answering questions

Q1: What requirements must be met before a sports event can be considered by the IOC? Q2: What sports have been removed from the Olympics? Why? Q3: What sport was added in 2000? Q4: Which sport is still trying to get into the Olympics? Why hasn’t it been approved by the IOC?

Activity2 : Listening and following

Ask students to listen and follow the passage together to help summarize the
