Teaching design of The Doorbell Rang 光谷十五小胡嫚一、Teaching goals
1.Students can listen and understand the story by reading pictures and then they can mime and act the story out.
2.Students can listen, read and speak words such as rang /cookie/ starving/share/each; Ss can understand and read sentence patterns …as good as…/That’s ... each./ No one… like…3.Students can understand the happiness and the meaning of sharing.
4.Students can enjoy reading English picture books, arouse their interest of reading and develop their picture book reading skills. 二、Teaching important points and difficult points
Important points:
1.Students can listen and understand the story by reading pictures and then they can mime and act the story out.

Difficult points:Students can use the new expressions to act the
story and get to know the ways of picture book reading.
三、Teaching procedures

1.warming up and lead in
Guessing game: Talk about the topic of the picture book.
Today, I also want to share a picture book with you.
T: Can you guess what is it about?
S1: Maybe it is about animals…
T: (show a box) It is about a kind of food. Can you guess?
S: biscuits/cookies.
2.Presentation
(1)Learn the cover
The name is The doorbell rang. By Pat Hutchins.
T: Look at the cover. What can you see?
S: There are many children…
T: Do you have some questions?
S: Why are they unhappy?
Can you guess what happened? (S1-S2: Maybe …)
Let’s read and find the answer.
(2)Learn P1-4, understand We are starving. That’s 6 each.They look/smell as good as Grandma’s. No one makes cookies like Grandma.
Listen and repeat. Then practice and act in group of 3.
(3)Learn P5-12, how many cookies can Sam get now?
That’s two each. When they are going to eat, the doorbell rang again.
(4)Only show pictures, students try to act P13-16 in groups.
(5)Learn the ending of the story.
How are they feeling now? What will they do?
Sharing makes them happy.
3.Practice: read the whole story by themselves on 51talk,then read and act the story out.
4.Summary: Reading picture books is a good way to learn English. How to read an English picture book?
5.Homework: ①Read this picture book again, what else can you find? ②Share this story and read more English picture books.
