My contents consist of 8 parts. Unit 9 focuses on the topic of subjects. And I will talk about it from the following steps. 1. Analysis of the Teaching Material This lesson is taken from Go for it, Unit 9, What’s your favorite subject? Section B (1a-1d), listening and speaking part. Section B (1a-1d) is an improving part of each unit and it shows us some new words, phrases and consolidate the sentence pattern in before periods, such as “When do you have English?...”

This topic about subjects is closely related with students’ daily life. So they may be interested in the topic and be active in the class. Meanwhile, it focuses on listening and speaking skills which are really important for ss in this age.

2. Analysis of students As we know, we teach ss not books. As the Ss in Grade7, students understand some simple words and sentences and they have something to say about subjects. Meanwhile, they’re curious, active and fond of game, competition and various activities. They’re able to master the knowledge through cooperation in a relaxing atmosphere. 3. Learning Objects (1) Knowledge goals

By the end of this lesson, students can learn the new words and phrases: Monday, Tuesday…Sunday, have English… At the same time, they can use “ When do you have English? I have English every day./on Monday”

to know about one’s class schedule in one day. (2) Ability goals Students can use listening and speaking skills to complete the listening exercise and communicate with others by “When do you have English? I have English every day./on Monday.”

(3) Emotion goals Students can understand different subjects and love their classes. 4. Important and difficult points (1) Important points: a. Ask one’s favorite subjects and say the reasons

b. How to express one’s class schedule in one day (2) Difficult points How to use “what, why, when”

to express one’s favorite subject and the class schedule. 5. Teaching Methods& aids

In this class, my teaching methods include communicative teaching method and task-based teaching method. The aids would be ppt, stick figures, pictures, chunks…

6. Teaching procedures. Step1: Warm-up At first, we’ll review what we have learned last class. In this part, I’ll divide the whole class into Two groups, Class 7 and Class 8 to stimulate their passion. Each time their members answers correctly, they can win one points for their group 1.

“I draw you guess”. Draw some stick figures and you guess what subject it is. And then guide ss to say more subjects.

Memory challenge. Students need to remember ten subject words in five minutes. Then I’ll cover them and point one randomly. If ss know the answer, he/she can stand up quickly. By doing this, it’s to consolidate the words and phrases they have learned in a happy environment. Step 2: Lead-in 1. Play a video “Days of the week”: What is the video about? It is about the days of a week. How many days are there in a week? Seven. What day is it today? It is ... At first let's learn the seven days of a week. They are Monday/ Tuesday/ Wednesday/ Thursday/ Friday/ Saturday / Sunday . 2. Let’s chant. This activity can cheer students up and arouse their interest in learning the new words. Step 3: Task 1a

Match the words with the correct words in 1a and check answers. 2.

Learn the new description words, such as “boring, fun…”

Step 4: Task 1b-1c 1. Listen for the general meaning. 2. Listen again and check answers. 3.Present another five questions about the schedule to help students understand the conversation clearly. “What classes does David have on Monday?

What classes does David have on the morning of Tuesday? ...”

These questions can help students get familiar with the schedule and at the same time improve listening ability. Step 5: Conclude

Show the sentence pattern “When do you have class? I have… on …”

and let them practice the sentences. Step 6: Pair work (1d) 1.

listen to a conversation about David. Fill in the blanks in 1d and practice the dialogue with your partner. 2.

Interview your group mates and report it to your class like “

What’s your favorite subject? My favorite subject is …Why do you like it? Because it’s …When do you have class? I have… on …”

Step7: Summary Do some exercises about subjects, description words and days of weeks. And check which group is the winner.

7. Homework Write a story about your class schedule including your favorite subject and the reason. Then share the writing next class.
